飲み散らかし仮眠をとって
しゃがれ声で飛び乗る新幹線にて
遅い朝食か早い昼食は
旅の醍醐味である駅弁にむしゃぶりつきぐんぐんと西へ
降りた岡山駅から在来線そしてフェリーと乗り継ぎ
目的地の小さな島、小雨降る直島に到着
岡山県とばかり思っていたこの島はどうやら香川県で
それならば
と常に満腹なことも旅の醍醐味だね
なんつっておいしいうどん屋があることは同伴者がリサーチ済み
そう直島に関しての私の知識といえば
草間彌生さんの「南瓜」のオブジェただひとつで
岡山辺りから船に乗ったら辿り着けるらしいとか
魚がおいしそうとか考えてはいつも垂らしているよだれを
更に垂らしたりはしていましたが
余は南瓜が見たいのじゃ
と言ったか言わずか２日前に決まったこの旅
同伴者に全てを任せに任せのっかって
うどん屋を目指せば偶然に００７記念館を発見
そこは００７の小説、赤い刺青の男に直島が実名で登場し
映画化実現へのムーブメントに建てられた記念館だそうですが
隣にある喫茶店のランチののぼりの方が
記念館の看板よりも目立っているということからも察せられるように
胡散臭さは否めませんでしたが
胡散臭大好きな私らは吸い寄せられるように中へ入ると
小説の紹介をするＴＶ紙芝居（！）の映像が流れ
（放映時間30分／所々直島の美しい風景写真がコラージュされていました）
資料も結構な数でボランティアで運営されているとは思えぬ塩梅
維持費の募金箱があったので私も少ないながら応援させていただき
旅のさい先のよさを噛みしめいざ、うどん屋へ
生協と隣接しているというので目印に向かえば
閑散とした生協が現れそこにはそこのうどん屋には
生協停電のため臨時休業のはり紙が
仕方ないけれどそのはり紙は明らかにプリントアウトされたもので
デザインも横尾忠則よろしく日章旗をバックにしており
停電とは急に起こるものと信じていたのでなんとも言えぬ気持ちになるも
少々のアクシデントや発見は旅の醍醐味さ
と安藤忠雄が設計した地中美術館へと移動し
ジェームズ・タレルのオープン・フィールドを
ぺたぺたと裸足で歩き回り建物ごとアートを体感
島に着くまで泊まるか泊まらないかを悩んでいたのですが
居心地のよいアイランドにギャラリーが併設されている
こちらも安藤忠雄が設計したベネッセハウスに宿泊
自然光を多く取り入れた建物、部屋は
全館全室禁煙だったけれどとってもリラックスでき
建築家のあの関西弁からは想像もつかないおしゃれーさに
着慣れないバスローブの着方を右前、左前と悩み抜いては
どうでもよくなったって似合ってる気がするから不思議
昨夜から続きまだ続く優しい時間に明日を
零時を待つことができずベッドに沈み込む
